…aeroplanes aren't a common sight away from an airfield

It therefore came as a surprise for members of the public in Australia to see one parked outside a local pub with the engine still running.

Police in Newman charged the would-be pilot for endangering the life, health and safety of residents and children who were leaving a local school as the propeller was left spinning next to a busy road.

In addition, police said the aircraft was found to have an exposed fuel line hanging from the side of the aircraft attached to an insecure jerry can inside the cabin to enable the engine to run.

The as yet unidentified man is alleged to have bought the wingless Beechcraft two-seater aircraft from a private residence and was in the process of taking it home when he decided to stop and wet his whistle with a beer.

It is understood that the man does not hold a pilot's licence nor, by the sounds of it, any common sense.
