The merger has secured the firm as one of the country's top 40 national firms

Leading UK law firms Weightmans and RadcliffesleBrasseur have merged. The merger completed on Monday 13 June to create the new Weightmans LLP.

The merger will expand both firms’ presence in London, Leeds, Cardiff and nationally. The combined firm will have a turnover of more than £120m, with 225 partners and a total headcount of over 1400 people based across nine offices – Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Newcastle – which cements the firm’s place as a top 40 national firm.

The firm said the merger will expand the existing support provided to clients, as well as enhance capabilities across core services. It will add further outstanding expertise to both firms’ national practices and the resources to ensure that the combined firm continues to meet the ever-increasing needs and expectations of all clients, large and small, whether public bodies, public or private businesses, not for profit enterprises or individuals.

Weightmans managing partner, John Schorah, said: "We are absolutely delighted to announce this merger. Today we move forward as a single entity with more than 1,400 people representing the Weightmans brand.

“Joining with RadcliffesLeBrasseur will contribute significantly to the depth and breadth of services we offer to clients across the country.

“Everyone is committed to a shared philosophy of delivering client service excellence and it is with that philosophy we now head into our new future together.”

RadcliffesLeBrasseur senior partner, Andrew Parsons, said: “We are immensely proud of our history and achievements. Joining forces with Weightmans will mean we will be stronger both locally and nationally, offering a broader range of core and more specialised services. We have much in common with Weightmans and are confident of making even more of an impact nationally.”
