UNFAIRLY DISMISSED
By Nicola Laver
An employment tribunal has found that the Public Defender Service (PDS) unfairly dismissed an employee suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after working closely with a police informer who had been involved in terrorist activity. A number of Wendy Lewis' claims were dismissed but the PDS's failure to offer her home working before dismissing her when she became ill was found to be discriminatory. 'The dismissal of the claimant was an act of discrimination arising from disability', the tribunal recorded.
