UK government publishes proposals on reforming the Computer Misuse Act
Proposed legislative changes are open for consultation
The UK government has published proposals for reforming the Computer Misuse Act 1990, following a review of the Act and a public call for information held in 2021. The call for information, which received 51 responses, identified several areas that may need reform in light of the evolving threat, including the powers available to law enforcement agencies to investigate related offences. The Home Office is currently consulting on three main proposed legislative changes until 6 April 2023.
