The firm has appointed Simon Slater, a seasoned business strategy expert, as non-executive Chair to lead its ambitious expansion plans

Simon Slater brings a wealth of experience from his tenure at renowned professional service firms, including Charles Russell Speechlys, Eversheds, and Cripps, and his previous role as CEO of Thomson Snell & Passmore.

In addition to Simon Slater's appointment, Thackray Williams has welcomed several key professionals to its ranks: Megan O'Hara joins as Employment Partner, Julian Munroe as Employment Associate Solicitor, Charlene Cowen as Head of People and Wellbeing, Amit Bhangham as Commercial Property Senior Associate, and Lewis Glasson as Litigation Partner. Glasson's arrival marks the firm's debut in providing legal services to the sports industry, expanding its commercial practice to new sectors.

Sean Sanders, Managing Partner, expressed confidence in the firm's growth trajectory, citing the evolving legal landscape and shifting client demands. The firm's combined revenue across employment, commercial litigation, and corporate departments surged from £1.15 million in 2021 to £2.1 million in 2023, positioning Thackray Williams for inclusion among the UK's top 200 law firms later this year.

Sanders emphasised the firm's ambition to become a leading law firm in the South East, attributing recent growth to strategic investments in existing staff and the recruitment of top-tier legal talent. The expansion not only enhances client services but also creates opportunities for professional development within the firm.

Thackray Williams also announced internal promotions, with Mitchell Thompson and Nima Stepney elevated to Partners in the Private Client department, and Marcus Beavis appointed as Head of New Build and David Gibson as Head of Leasehold in the Property team. Both Beavis and Gibson began their careers as trainees at the firm, which now boasts a staff of over 140 professionals.

With these strategic additions and internal advancements, Thackray Williams reaffirms its commitment to excellence and anticipates continued success in meeting the diverse needs of its clients while expanding its presence in the legal market.
