SRA allows struck off solicitor to return to non-legal role

A solicitor who was struck off by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal in October been allowed back to work at Coventry firm Kumari Hart Limited.
The former personal injury lawyer Geoffrey Hart was a solicitor for 21 years before he was discovered to have drafted a letter intended to conceal the extent of a damages settlement from his client’s husband.
However, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has granted Hart permission to return to work in a regulated firm as a marketing and administration assistant.
The regulator has made the allowance on the basis of several conditions, including that Hart’s work must be directly supervised by managing director Anu Hart, and that he must not be in the office in her absence.
The SRA must also be informed, and permission granted, for any changes to his job description or his supervision.
The regulator said: “The SRA is satisfied that the above employment will not put public confidence in the administration of justice and the provision of legal services or the interests of clients at risk.”
