A Weightmans employee who had been with the firm for nearly 24 years has lost her challenge against unfair dismissal. She was dismissed because of the extent of her internet use at work. Search history records revealed hundreds of visits across one month alone to sites such as Ryanair, Easyjet and Debenhams. The firm said this amounted to gross misconduct as it showed contempt for the trust placed in the employee. An employment tribunal rejected her claim and said the firm's response was reasonable and the procedure followed was 'textbook'. 17 January
