Rape pilot expanded
Trigger warning: rape
The government has expanded a pilot scheme which allows victims and witnesses of crimes such as rape and modern slavery to pre-record cross-examination videos, which are then played during trial. The measure is now available in London (Harrow, Isleworth and Wood Green) and Durham crown courts. The pilot is part of the government’s Rape Review which sets out clear actions for the police, prosecutors and courts to help reduce the number of victims withdrawing from the process and increase the volume of trials being heard.
