Research by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has found that solicitors conveyancers representing a quarter of leaseholders breached a duty of care to their clients by not making them fully aware of what they were buying. The regulator's Residential Conveyancing Thematic Review found that 23% of conveyancing firms failed to explain the difference between freehold and leasehold. The review also found that 37% were not transparent about the mark-ups they added to the bank's transaction fees and 34% failed to quote accurately for work. 5 April 2019
