PRICE TRANSPARENCY
By Nicola Laver
The Solicitors Regulation Authority has committed to carrying out 'web sweeps' of around 500 law firms in the coming months in a bid to spot check compliance with its new price transparency rules. Speaking at a press briefing earlier this month, the regulator's chief executive Paul Philip said the intention was to take a 'proportionate approach' but he warned that firms tempted to shirk their obligations, that if they do they are 'forcing us into taking disproportionate action when you should just comply and move forward'. He added that the web sweep was part of a 'standard auditing approach' to price transparency.
