Pinsent Masons senior partner Richard Foley has publicly criticised City law firms for perpetuating a bidding war for newly qualified talent, which has pushed NQ salaries into six figures. Speaking at the Innovative Lawyers Summit in late October, Foley said: The levels of pay in major private practice law firms are completely unsustainable.' His comments stem from recent boosts to NQ pay by US firms, such as Kirkland & Ellis, which now pays junior lawyers £142,000. 'I would be thinking how much more value am I going to get from that person?', Foley said. 22 October 2020
