Matheson appoints pro bono partner
Niamh Counihan will split her time equally between pro bono and fee-earning matters
Ireland’s largest law firm, Matheson, has appointed a ‘pro bono partner’. Niamh Counihan will dedicate 50 per cent of her time to pro bono work, while continuing as director of legal and regulatory affairs in the rest of her time. Her appointment appears to be a first in the legal community. Matheson said Counihan’s appointment underlines the importance placed on pro bono work by the firm – “Pro bono work is treated in the same way as commercial work, with equal priority, quality of service and standard of professional conduct”.
