Law firm in the south-west becomes trailblazer of four-day week
Plymouth-based law firm Portcullis Legals has become one of the first businesses in the UK to introduce a four-day working week. The firm trialled the initiative for five months before concluding that staff were more productive and less stressed under the new arrangement. Consequently, staff were given a pay rise and the firm converted to a four-day working week as standard. Managing director Trevor Worth told Plymouth Live: “I’ve contacted businesses far and wide to find out the benefits and pitfalls of the four-day week, working with academics and industry leaders to find out the best way to apply the fourday week to Portcullis”.
