Katten expands London financial services arm with trio of new partners focused on investment management
London-based law firm Katten Muchin Rosenman UK LLP (Katten) has announced the addition of three new partners to its London office, further bolstering its financial services offerings
Joining Katten from Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP (Curtis), the trio of partners—Thomas Laurer, Ryan Hansen, and Daniel Lewin—bring with them extensive expertise in financial markets, funds, and transactional tax planning.
Laurer and Hansen, who previously worked in Curtis's New York office before relocating to London in 2013 and 2017, respectively, co-led the Investment Management practice at Curtis in London. They are joined by Lewin, who joined them at Curtis in 2022.
The new partners specialize in advising both established and emerging investment managers and family offices on a wide range of matters, including global operations, portfolio investments, corporate transactions, and structuring and formation of investment management groups. They also provide guidance on the marketing of hedge, private equity, venture capital, and other private funds.
Their expertise extends to assisting emerging companies in raising capital from US and international investors, establishing UK and US operations or ownership structures, and navigating legal, regulatory, and tax challenges associated with cross-border business growth.
Lance Zinman, Global Chair of Katten's Financial Markets and Funds department, expressed enthusiasm about the addition of the new partners, noting their exceptional skills and extensive experience in the international market.
Christopher Hitchins, London Managing Partner at Katten, echoed Zinman's sentiments, stating that the trio's wealth of transatlantic investments and financings expertise aligns perfectly with Katten's existing offerings. He emphasized the strategic importance of the new hires in advancing Katten's growth and enhancing its leading financial services and funds platform.
The addition of Laurer, Hansen, and Lewin underscores Katten's commitment to providing top-tier transatlantic services to its clients and further solidifies its position as a leading player in the London legal market.
