Market for alternative legal services continues to grow and evolve

Lawyers On Demand (LOD), the provider of casual legal services from Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), has revealed a 40 per cent increase in its turnover over the last 12 months.

The alternative service was launched in 2007 to help teams manage changing workloads more efficiently and offer lawyers 'better' ways of working.

BLP managing partner and LOD chairman, Neville Eisenberg, said: 'LOD has been a remarkable success story since it began in 2007. LOD's turnover has increased by more than 500 per cent in the last four years and it now has a team of over 250 experienced lawyers who have completed hundreds of assignments for well-known global companies and law firms.'

LOD's expansion is set to continue following the appointment of a business intelligence and risk management expert as its new managing director.

Tom Hartley, former CEO of Kroll Associates, is set to work alongside LOD co-founders Simon Harper and Jonathan Brenner and practice development Director Tim Bratton to expand into new markets in the UK and overseas.

Harper commented: 'We're looking forward to offering our clients even more choice, flexibility and control over how they manage their legal work.'

Hartley continued: 'The market for alternative legal services will continue to grow and change and, as the UK's original provider, LOD is best placed to help shape that growth.'
