A New LawTech Scaler Programme is now open for Applications

LawtechUK, the Ministry of Justice backed initiative aimed at spearheading the digital transformation of the legal sector, has opened its Lawtech Scaler Programme for applications.  This cohort-based programme, designed for founders of UK registered companies who already have a lawtech product in market, will enable them to turn early-stage traction into a commercially successful business.

Lawtech Scaler has been designed for ambitious founders with an MVP looking to build early traction quickly or companies looking to solve specific challenges, for example companies with a product with active customer acquisition, looking to scale; A revenue-generating product already in market, but perhaps struggling with growth; a product looking to go beyond its early adopters.

Importantly, founders do not need to part with any equity or money, as this free ten-week course covers everything needed to scale a startup MVP including growth tactics and startup playbooks. Key topics include: business strategy, product growth, sales, marketing, team building, funding, revenue generation, funding, and scaling operations.

All sessions are interactive, featuring practical activities, lectures, panels, and group discussions.  Lawtech Scaler is a great opportunity to connect with other lawtech founders on the cohort and learn from industry experts and founders who host each workshop.  The focus is very much on how to build early traction tactics and long-term growth strategies.

Professor Richard Susskind OBE, LawtechUK Advisory Panel Member says “We need more lawtech companies in the UK who can help both to shape the future of legal services and also to maintain and enhance our reputation as a global legal leader. With this in mind, at LawTechUK we want to support emerging lawtech businesses and help them to thrive.  The Scaler programme is our way of making this happen.”

Andy Robinson is a versatile tech leader with a focus on the commercialisation of tech products. Andy successfully led the acquisition of Cultivate Software by Deliveroo before joining their leadership team. Since then, he’s launched new products, repositioned existing ones and transformed established companies.  Andy will be leading week two ‘Business Strategy’.

Robinson says, “In the Business Strategy workshops we'll review product/market strategy, leveraging best practice frameworks to meticulously plan the next steps for business growth. Drawing from my extensive background in commercialization, product management, and business development, the workshop will provide the lawtech companies with actionable insights and strategic clarity. I look forward to unravelling the intricacies and unique challenges to help propel the companies move forward in the dynamic landscape of law and technology.”

Tadas Labudis is a seasoned software entrepreneur and product leader with a wealth of experience spanning B2B SaaS, AI, and Mobile.  Tadas will be running week three; ‘Product Fundamentals and How to Grow’  which will delve into the fundamentals of product-led growth and reflect on the importance of strategy and roadmaps.

Ahead of the programme kicking off, Labudis states  “As a first-time founder, it's easy to fall into the trap of continuously iterating your product without getting any closer to creating something that customers would love using and, most importantly, pay for. The workshop offers founders a systematic and hands-on strategy for de-risking the assumptions that form the foundation of their business concept, all without draining substantial time and resources. This interactive workshop enables participants to glean insights from actual product experiments, empowering them to promptly apply these lessons by designing their own experiments in real-time.”

In order to apply, interested companies need to complete a short questionnaire and successful companies will be informed by 18 December 2023 and the programme will be delivered online every Tuesday (10.00am – 1.00pm) from 16 January - 26 March 2024.
