Former Apprentice star Lauren Riley launches app at Scottish PI firm
The 'stuffy' profession of law needs to change, says legal entrepreneur
Watermans has become the first law firm north of the border to offer the highly-publicised Link App to clients.
The Scottish firm has joined forces with Lauren Riley, the former The Apprentice hopeful, and her latest business venture to offer a new service to clients.
The qualified family solicitor first appeared on the hit BBC programme in 2014 before going on to create her own free app for law firms, which was designed to help clients better interact with their lawyers.
'It is always great to see the business growing,' said Riley. 'As a qualified lawyer I am particularly passionate about helping law firms and their clients use new technology to improve the way they interact.'
'Law was a profession that used to have a reputation for being stuffy and reluctant to change, but the internet, tablets and smartphones are changing the way everyone does business and the best law firms are adapting quickly,' she continued.
Watermans's managing director Scott Whyte emphasised the need for innovation in the legal market to help improve clients' experience through what often are complex processes.
'The Link App will allow our clients to communicate with Watermans like never before, giving them the opportunity to check-in with the company to see how their case is progressing, no matter the time or day.
'This innovative approach will allow our team to handle cases more efficiently, giving us more time to devote to getting the best possible result for clients.'
The former The Apprentice star opened her business up to the public earlier this year in the hope of crowdfunding £150,000 on Crowd2Fund.
Riley explained that 80 small and medium-sized firms had registered an interest in her App in the summer.
'Watermans are very enterprising and it was clear they had a real appetite to try something new, so I'm especially pleased The Link App will now be available in Scotland through them,' added Riley.
