EXPERT KISSED

By Nicola Laver
Professor Stephen Harris was banned from giving evidence at a trial of Mick Wills, a huntsman accused of illegally hunting a fox, when he was alleged to have kissed Judy Gilbert, an anti-hunting campaigner outside the court. Mr Justice Daber excluded Harris from giving evidence on grounds of public policy and told Wellingborough Magistrates Court that a reasonable observer would consider him to be partisan. Professor Harris later said that Ms Gilbert kissed him before he could stop her and that they had not seen each other for nearly two decades. Mr Wills was acquitted of the charge. 26 May 2019
