Leading West-End law firm Gherson Solicitors LLP (Gherson) has added solicitor Cong Gao to its litigation and arbitration practice

A dual-qualified solicitor in England & Wales and Mainland China, Cong trained before becoming an associate at King & Wood Mallesons’ cross-border dispute team in China. Moving to London in 2014, Cong attended the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London, where she undertook her PhD carrying out research examining the investor-state dispute settlement framework in China from both domestic and international perspectives, whilst working as a paralegal at Keystone Law, before being admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales.

Post qualification, Cong joined Herbert Smith Freehills’ London disputes team, followed by the Slaughter & May competition team as a contract lawyer.  Now, joining Gherson’s litigation and arbitration practice, Cong will work alongside a team of highly skilled litigators who have considerable experience in assisting clients on a range of civil and commercial dispute matters.  The team specialises in high value complex disputes ranging from cross-border contractual and investment disputes, to sanctions-related matters and civil fraud.

Commenting on Cong Gao’s appointment, Roger Gherson, founding partner at Gherson Solicitors, said:

“We are excited to have Cong join our experienced litigation and arbitration team.  Her vast experience at a range of top international law firms in both Mainland China and the UK will be invaluable, particularly to our growing Chinese client-base.”
