Cycling UK has applied for judicial review against the decision to remove a cycle lane opened during covid-19. Its solicitors, Leigh Day, said the decision to remove the cycle lane in Shoreham-by-Sea was “irrational and unlawful” because West Sussex County council failed to carry out an equality impact assessment and ignored statutory guidance on the management of its highways network. It also said the council breached its public sector equality duty by failing to undertake an equality impact assessment.
