The MoJ is consulting on proposals to strike a balance between citizens' rights and effective governance

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is consulting on judicial review reforms following an independent review led by Lord Faulks QC. It details proposals to shield judges from being drawn into politics and to strike a balance between citizens’ rights and effective governance. Justice secretary Robert Buckland said government is behind proposals to reverse the effects of the Cart judgment and to introduce suspended quashing orders as a new remedy. He said “an iterative approach to reform is most appropriate”. The consultation closes on 29 April.
