CO-OP FINED

By Nicola Laver
Co-operative Legal Services (CLS) was fined nearly £144,000 and ordered to pay the regulator's costs of £1,350 for breaching the indemnity principle of costs law. The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) found it had wrongly recovered almost £29,000 worth of medical disbursements from third party insurers. The SRA found CLS had acted recklessly by not considering the impact of its agreement with a medical disbursement supplier regarding the recovering of its fees upon its processes and procedures used by its staff. 22 October 2020
