The High Court has underlined its stance on fraudulent criminal negligence claims this month, imposing an immediate five-month custodial sentence on a woman found to have exaggerated her claim. The decision in Elder v George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust related to an exaggerated claim seeking to recover more than £2m. The NHS had admitted liability in respect to the claimant's surgery but the level of injury was queried when the claimant was seen at a party in Ibiza. 11 April 2019
