A new business recycling group, CIRQLR, has emerged with a promising vision to “give waste a second life”. With a turnover of £150 million and processing 600,000 tonnes of materials, the group is making significant strides in the recycling sector. CIRQLR’s “buy and build” strategy has already seen them complete their eighth acquisition in just two years, which was facilitated by the legal expertise of Burges Salmon.
By integrating a network of regional recycling operators, CIRQLR now provides extensive coverage across the East of England, from the South Coast to the Humber. Burges Salmon has played a vital role in the group’s ambitious plans, with their Energy and Utilities sector team guiding CIRQLR through complex regulatory and contractual issues surrounding all eight acquisitions. Lead partner Jonathan Eves and senior associate Rebecca Brown worked to ensure a streamlined approach to service delivery throughout the project timeline.
The Chambers Group, covering Surrey, marks the latest established regional firm to join CIRQLR, further cementing its presence in the South-East and Home Counties. This acquisition enables Southern regional customers to access not only CIRQLR’s services but also its sister recycling brands, including Wilrose and Cox Skips/The Recycling Partnership. Additional coverage extends from the Humber to various parts of East Anglia via Ellgia, while KP Waste and Eco Waste provide services in north and central London. The national reach of CIRQLR’s hazardous waste subsidiary, Castle Environmental, enhances the group’s service offerings.
Led by David Palmer-Jones OBE and backed by funds advised by iCON Infrastructure LLP, CIRQLR has swiftly positioned itself as a leading player in the commercial and industrial waste sector, serving over 15,000 customers. With a current annual turnover of £150 million and handling 600,000 tonnes of recycling material, the group is set for further growth through bolt-on acquisitions, capital investments, and workforce development.
