CHILDREN'S FUNERAL FUND

By Nicola Laver
Families of children who die under the age of 18 (including stillborn babies born after the 24th week of pregnancy) will no longer have to pay the cost of burial or cremation. A Children's Funeral Fund for England has been set up following a cross-party campaign led by Carolyn Harris MP after the death of her eight-year-old son. It will cover burial and cremation fees including the cost of a doctor's certificate and a contribution of up to £300 towards the cost of a coffin. The scheme is available regardless of the family's income. 23 July 2019
