Half of solicitors surveyed by The Solicitors Charity have said they were overworked and found it stressful working from home. During 2020, the charity handed out £1.1m worth of grants to 399 people – three times the usual number. Sole practitioners and solicitors at small firms made up 71 per cent of those awarded financial help. The charity also found a significant shift in the profile of solicitors it helped, with almost half of black and 36 per cent of Asian respondents put on furlough.
