Manchester and Liverpool law firm Bermans adds employment partner Sarah Collier and litigation specialist Sarah Wellicome

Bermans, a prominent commercial law firm with offices in Manchester and Liverpool, is thrilled to announce the addition of two new partners to its growing team: Sarah Collier and Sarah Wellicome. These strategic appointments reflect the firm’s commitment to expanding its expertise and enhancing its services.

Sarah Collier joins Bermans as a partner in the employment team at the Manchester office. With over 15 years of experience, Collier brings extensive knowledge in supporting SMEs with employment-related issues. Her practice encompasses redundancies, disciplinaries, grievances, discrimination, sexual harassment, shareholder disputes, and settlement agreements. She will also contribute to in-house training, further strengthening the firm’s employment law capabilities.

Sarah Wellicome, who will also be based in the Manchester office, takes on the role of heading the firm’s renowned invoice and asset finance litigation team. This position comes after the retirement of long-standing partner Andrew Henderson, who served the firm for 39 years. Wellicome, a seasoned litigator since 2007, previously led a busy litigation team dealing with high-value and complex property disputes for secured lenders and receivers in the High Court and through mediation and ADR.

These additions follow last month’s appointment of Charlotte Mills as a partner in the corporate team from Jackson Lees, raising the number of partners at Bermans to 20.

Jon Davage, Managing Director of Bermans, expressed his enthusiasm: “I am delighted to welcome Sarah Collier and Sarah Wellicome, both of whom are highly respected in their fields. Sarah Wellicome’s expertise will further drive growth within our nationally renowned litigation team, while Sarah Collier’s arrival is timely with anticipated changes in employment legislation. Her contribution will add significant value to our client base.”

Davage also noted the firm’s growth across its Liverpool and Manchester offices and its ongoing recruitment efforts. “We are seeing substantial growth and momentum, and we are actively looking to expand our team further this year.”

Since joining the MAPD Group in 2022, Bermans has been part of an initiative aimed at enhancing the national presence of local law firms through strategic acquisitions. The MAPD Group, founded by Brian Cullen and Joanna Kingston-Davies, now includes nine brands, reflecting its commitment to making a positive difference in the legal sector.
