Barrister disbarred over dishonest CV

Barrister Richard Anthony Joseph Gibbs has been disbarred by an independent disciplinary tribunal following a number of charges of professional misconduct brought by the Bar Standards Board (BSB). The charges related to Gibbs’ dishonesty when applying for pupillage and tenancy; he made statements that were not true with respect to his career and business. Gibbs failed to be open and cooperative with the BSB. The panel considered the dishonesty to be repeated and deliberate. The decision is open to appeal.
