BAME consumers
By Nicola Laver
Individuals from black Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities are less satisfied with the choice of legal services, experience less satisfactory services than white British consumers and are less likely to have a will, according to a new Legal Services Consumer Panel paper. It concluded that five years on from its first paper on their experiences, there is still a “troubling inequality”. The LSCP urged regulators to undertake specific consumer research; address the low levels of trust in lawyers especially for BAME communities; and continue working towards meaningful price and quality transparency.
