ARMED FORCES

The Law Society warned that the rights of service personnel will be stripped by the Overseas Operations Bill. A presumption against prosecution against armed forces personnel more than five years after the event could also break international law, said the Society. A time limit on compensation claims is also proposed. The Society's vice president David Greene said only the Ministry of Defence would stand to gain. He said the time limit could also prevent individuals being recompensed for injuries and medical conditions caused by military activities. 23 September 2020
