Joseph Tendler

Joseph Tendler

Legal Director, Marriott Harrison LLP

I am a Legal Director in the Dispute Resolution team specialising in complex, high-value, and cross-border commercial disputes, with notable experience in litigation and arbitration. The disputes I work on arise from breaches of contract, breaches of fiduciary duties, corporate governance matters, shareholder and minority shareholder rights issues, joint venture companies, contentious insolvency, civil fraud and dishonesty, and professional negligence. I also act on urgent interim proceedings, including for injunctive relief to preserve assets in clients’ interests. I typically work with domestic and international corporate clients, individual and corporate shareholders and directors, trusts, charities, entrepreneurs, and high and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. The nature of my work also means that I work closely with overseas lawyers where required. In testimonials in the Legal 500, it has been said of me that ‘clients strongly value the proportionality, careful approach, communicative reasoning, and reliable directions of Joseph Tendler,’ that ‘his qualities exceed his rank’, that ‘he is clearly destined to be a partner,’ ‘he always provides invaluable energy and insight to every case he works on and is a delight to deal with’, and that he is ‘able to explain multi-dimensional legal issues and strategies with ease, and remains at all times pleasant, professional, dependable, and lucid’. I am a qualified solicitor-advocate with higher rights of audience and I am a member of professional organisations including the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA), the Franco-British Jurists Association, and the Junior London Solicitors Litigation Association, for which I am my firm’s ‘champion’ and a committee member.
