S&J opens new office

In America, Washington DC-based legal firm, Steptoe & Johnson has increased its business presence with the opening of new premises in New York, as well as the appointment of two partners.

Securities and derivatives litigation partner, John Lovi joins Steptoe from international law firm, McDermott, Will & Emery and is accompanied by Evan Barr, who rejoins the company following a spell in government service, as assistant US attorney and chief of the major crimes unit of the US attorney’s office.

The firm has already established a strong presence in the city, as a result of representations in numerous, high profile, white collar criminal defence cases and insurance and commercial litigation enhancements.

Business will initially focus on key elements of the firm’s practice, including white collar defence and criminal investigations, insurance, mass tort, bankruptcy, and commercial litigation.
