Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw to become largest UK LLP

A UK committee is in the final stages of completing terms for Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw’s conversion to a UK limited-liability partnership (LLP)

While the US side of the merged firm faces conversion delay because of Bar rules in the state of Illinois, the UK conversion will be the first undertaken by such a large law firm. Final completion is expected in November of this year.

Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw has set an example that other magic circle firms look likely to follow. Allen & Overy (A&O) has now set up a taskforce to deal with issues including tax structures in Germany and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is understood to be investigating converting to LLP status.
