On the same date, Philip Burroughs, currently head of real estate, will become head of the London office, following last year’s departure of managing partner Nick Holt. Burroughs comes from the KLegal side of the firm, rather than McGrigor Donald, the Scottish practice K-Legal merged with two years ago. He has been with the firm for three years, having joined from Coudert Brothers, where he was managing partner of the London office.

Colin Gray, chief operating officer at McGrigors, said: “Having one common name across the firm naturally has many advantages. It will give greater clarity and continuity to our profile, and both client and staff research has shown that McGrigors is a popular choice. “We are delighted to be appointing Philip Burroughs to his new position, and I am sure that under his leadership the office will continue to prosper. We look forward to continuing to grow the business in London, Scotland and Northern Ireland.”
