Addleshaw Booth & Co and Theodore Goddard have agreed to merge to become Addleshaw Goddard.

The merged firm, which will be effective from 1 May 2003, will be structured around five core divisions, each led by a divisional managing partner. They will be Sean Lippell (corporate), Nigel West (banking and projects), Malcolm Pike (employment and litigation), Paul Howell (property) and Hamish Porter (commercial). Overall management will fall to Paul Lee as senior partner, Paddy Grafton Green as partnership chairman, and Mark Jones as managing partner.

Managing partner Mark Jones said: “The merged firm will forge one of the UK’s leading law firms, creating an organisation with visible momentum. The firm will have 174 partners, over 500 fee earners, as well as over 570 professional and support staff giving a total firm-wide complement of over 1,250 people. With a fee income of £120 million, we would rank 16th in both The Legal Business 100 and The Lawyer Top 100 tables.”
