Younger solicitors

Most practising solicitors are now aged 40 or younger, according to the Law Society’s Annual Statistical Report for 2005, published this week.

The figures show that 53 per cent of solicitors in England and Wales have been qualified for 10 years or less, while 54 per cent are aged 40 or younger. The average age of a female solicitor with a practising certificate is 37 compared to 40 for men, with women now accounting for 42 per cent of solicitors.
