  • International law firm Ashurst has advised Betfair on an agreement with online payment provider PayPal.
  • Commercial law firm, Beachcroft Wansbroughs advised Chinese lottery and gaming company, Betex Group on its £12.5m placing and admission to AIM from Ofex at a market capitalisation of £50m.
  • Dewey Ballantine advised Kingdom Hotel Investments (KHI) on its £226m initial public offering of shares on the Dubai International Financial Exchange and global depository shares on the London Stock Exchange.
  • Addleshaw Goddard has advised Rathbone Brothers on its £44m acquisition of the UK private banking business of Dexia-Banque Internationale a Luxembourg SA. Linklaters represented the vendors and Bridgewell the purchasers.
  • SJ Berwin LLP’s real estate division advised Evans Randall, the private investment bank, in acquiring 25 North Colonnade in Canary Wharf for £191m. 
  • Lovells acted for Japanese technology and investment company SoftBank on the acquisition of a 23 per cent stake in betting exchange operator Betfair. Freshfields advised Betfair.
  • Trowers & Hamlins acted as regional legal adviser to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on the launch of the new £200m Arabian Real Estate Investment Trust established by HSBC Bank Middle East Ltd and Daman Asset Management Ltd. Maples & Calder acted as legal adviser within the Cayman Islands where the trust  is registered.
