Dentons and Dacheng Law Offices (??) have today formalised their combination to create a new top-10 global law firm.

When the agreement was signed on 27 January 2015, Dentons said it anticipated the combination to take place in approximately 60 to 90 days – by the end of April 2015.

The delay in completing the combination may be attributable, in part, to rebranding issues.

Previously, both parties had agreed that the firm would be rebranded as '?? Dentons', but would continue to be called Dentons in non-Chinese spoken references and would be called '?????????' in Chinese.

The combined firm has said today that it will be known as ‘Dentons’ in English and all other languages, except for Chinese. In Chinese, the firm will be known as ‘??’. The firm's new logo unites the two as ‘?? Dentons’.

It has also been agreed that Dacheng’s legacy website will be phased out, with a new Chinese language page launching today on Dentons' website, at

The combined firm has approximately 6,600 lawyers serving more than 50 countries around the world.
